December Daily 2015 – Day 1

Day one of December Daily.

Due to commitments we were unable to maintain the tradition of putting up our tree on the 1st of December this year but there was still plenty of Christmas excitement in the air.

I didn’t want to start photos right next to my intentions. I was considering a divider but that has made my albums really thick in the past so I continued this star theme and just slipped in a complete 6×8 page with a little washi across the bottom. Simple and clean.

I delved into my old leftovers and created tis ’tis the season’ page on the flip side of the star. Next to that my photos and stories of December 1 begin.

The “tis the season” is a silhouette cut of an old Ali Edwards file I had. These boxed files are an absolute classic and a go to for me each December.  I cut it out of some POW glitter paper. It’s the best glitter paper with the silhouette in my opinion.

Here I used the Ali Edwards Digital files for 2015. You can purchase these here and change colours, change size if need be. I do it using Photoshop Elements. Then just a  chipboard glitter star and a little thin washi and it was complete.

The final page of day 1 is here. A little story about how my kids pull together and make sure no one misses out. I cut one of the wood veneer stars form the Ali Edwards Main kit in 2 and stuck it on. I would recommend cutting it with a craft knife or some Tim Holtz tonic scissors. I tried normal craft scissors at first and hence why the star is a little crushed. I could not bare to throw it away so I used it that way anyway. I call it “character” LOL

Close up of the cut star.

So, Day one is complete and ended up being 2 pages with 3 photos. Yes I am done early today. This was opportunistic for me and will not be the norm for future DD pages 🙂

Until tomorrow.

  1. Alison Dunphy

Wow so cool well done. I’m just out of bed on the hunt for my first photos. Love it xx

  2. Looking great. I love the way you’ve printed on the intentions page. How do you do this please? Thanks. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with. Thanks for the share. Helen. X

    • Ni Helen, I use photoshop elements and type it up in a text box. Hope that helps but you could also do it using a typewriter ?

  3. Great start Petra! I had every intention of being organised like this but, well………things happen (like still not watching the videos of how to use files and photoshop…….)

  4. Oh honey! I’m going to be living vicariously through you this December. Looking forward to checking in and see your beautiful work every day. xxxx

  5. Love a little ‘character’ it’s loaded with real life. Great to cross December paths again Petra x

  6. My mother does woodworking and any “mistake” she makes, she says “well, that makes it rustic.” So your star is rustic! 🙂

  7. So glad to see your book again. You and Marie give me lots of inspiration and a teeny bit of envy 🙂

    • Thank you Ann for taking some of your precious time to come here and visit. I’m honoured x
