Project Life 2014 – The Beginning

DSC_0120Hi there. Well it’s about time I start getting back into posting about project life. What better topic the start off a brand new year than the font page? ( In case you are wondering I have not quite finished my 2013 album but will slowly work away on it in the background but, inspiration recently jumped my way so I opened my arms to it and completed this here 2014 Project Life title page for our family album. I received a Silhouette Portrait die cut machine for Christmas and used it here for the “2014” insert. The “twenty fourteen” wording is also a die cut using the portrait. The words are an Ali Edwards design. ๐Ÿ™‚

DSC_0118So, this is it. If you have followed me for any length of time you’ll know I like to have a little fun with my title pages. I found these gorgeous little erasers in Officeworks shaped like letters of the alphabet and that’s when, right there in Officeworks, the idea of my title page came together. ย DSC_0127You can see here that I had each member of my family hold letters spelling out their name (with the exception of Mackenzie of course. She has the smallest hands and the longest name!) Oh yes there were many out takes, giggles, letters falling off, rolling off a little frustration but all in all we did actually have fun.DSC_0121Just in case you are not to familiar with the Becky Higgins Project Life range the filler cards I have used here are from the Becky Higgins Midnight Core Kit. There was much deliberation about which kit to use this year but given what I have planned, this was eventually the most natural choice. Here I attached a little plastic camera embellishment that came from Studio Calico. I am subscribing to the Studio Calico Project Life kits this year so you’ll be seeing some of those here and there.DSC_0123Just one final shot of the page. I will continue my hybrid style of ย Project Life mixing the best of both worlds of Digital and Physical Project life and embellishments.

Thanks for joining me for another year of the Project life Journey. I look forward to answering your queries and receiving your ย comments which I will always endeavour to answer.

Happy 2014 and let’s get into it together!

Thanks For Dropping In

  1. Looking jolly darn good Petra! I must photograph my cover page and blog it too! Thanks for reminding me!! haha ๐Ÿ˜‰
I really love the midnight core kit – however I’ve gone BRIGHT and am using the Sunshine core kit this year but I never stick to it completely – I always mix it around abit to however I’m feeling at the time of putting together each weekly spread.
Loving every detail of your cover page – I’m hoping that a Silhouette comes my way one day! LOL!

    • Hi Anna,
Thank you. I did think about the Sunshine kit, also thought of Slate but ended up deciding on the Midnight mainly cause I think using some of the SC Project Life kits in the year it won’t become too disjointed ๐Ÿ™‚ Looking forward to seeing your cover too.

  2. Hi, I just saw your cover page on the Project Life junkies group on facebook, and had to pin it, so I dropped by your blog.

How did you make the 2014/twenty fourteen cut out? Do you own a silhouette? Are there two layers glued together? I like the airy/light feel.

    Love from Norway. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Hi Ingrid and thanks for stopping by. Yes they are 2 layers cut out non a silhouette stuck on top of each other.

  3. Hi Petra, yes I too love the light airy feel and yon can add splashes of any colour and will look great

  4. Hi Petra,

      Thanks For Dropping In

  7. I love the idea of the hands bringing my eyes towards the inside photos. Thinking I can take pictures during my everyday moments which will move the eyes towards the center. PS – the letters were awesome. Thank you for the idea spark I just love this PL layout!!

  8. Can you tell me the fonts you used for the 2014 numbers and words on your Silhouette? Got a Portrait for Mother’s Day and would like to try this. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Hi Linda , I seem the think the numbers font may be Sentinel or Impact. The words are an Ali Edwards script image. Hope that helps.
