This Project Lifer is doing December Daily!

DSC_0037Hi Guys. Thought I’d interrupt my usual weekly layouts with a project I am working on this year. December Daily is a concept created by the amazing Ali Edwards and I have tried to do one of these before but this year I WILL succeed.

Why am I doing December Daily? Well I find Christmas is always VERY full of activities for us and I am not a fan of filling my regular project Life album with hundreds (I know I will take many) of only Christmas related photos. I really like this years December Daily kit from Studio Calico because Β it is like a small project life album but with extra pretties.

How do I plan to achieve this when I have failed in the past? Well I have followed Ali’s advice and setup some VERY basic foundation pages so that the process of putting it together during December is not too overwhelming, my colour palette is set and so are some of the embellishments. Β Is till plan to do a little more than just “slip in the photos” but like this I already know where I am headed with that. So I thought it would be nice to share some of my foundation pages so you can see what I mean. Super quick and simple and ‘mostly’ using just the Studio Calico December Daily kit, Ali Edwards Silhouette cuts and bits I already had. I am also sticking to some of Alis design details that she has used in her album this year just to get it done. I have left all the image links in this time so you should be able to click and get a bigger view if you need.

Just a little heads up this post is rather image heavy but there is writing throughout and at the bottom. Hope you don’t mind x

DSC_0039 This is the front page. Just made out of transparency.

DSC_0041 DSC_0043DSC_0044 DSC_0045 DSC_0046DSC_0047I must say I really LOVE this cut made on the Silhouette by a good friend of mine. Can’t wit till Santa brings me my Silhouette.. hint hint πŸ˜‰

DSC_0048 DSC_0049DSC_0051I seriously love this transparency paper and decided it needed a full 6×8 section for now.

DSC_0053This is the white ink I stamped on transparency using the Ali Edwards stamps from Technique Tuesday.

DSC_0066Right here I combined a vellum die cut with the bokeh looking vellum. Delish!

DSC_0067Another 6×8 transparency I included with a glittery die cut stuck on it.

DSC_0070I also added a glitter/sequin pocket. This one was created by the very talented Jodie at Polkadot Creative.

So, what will I fill these pages with? Photos that I intend to take daily during the month of December. I have started a rough list of our usual traditions and things we do in the lead up. Not quite 25 but I know the rest will come. Oh and the list is not beautiful. It’s a REALLY rough scribble as you can see but, it’s a good start….

DSC_0081I still have plenty of kit goodies left. This is after putting the foundation pages together.

DSC_0077So I feel composed and ready for December 1st to roll in and that this year I WILL succeed with completing my December Daily album.

So I’ll be posting progress updates throughout December. It’ll be my way of making sure it gets done. You know, now that it’s out there? and you all know I’m doing it….

Hope you enjoyed this post for a change.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks For Dropping In

Petra x

  1. You will just smash this project out in no time when December arrives. It looks absolutely fantastic. Love love love

    • How can I possibly fail with wonderful people like you encouraging me?
      Thanks SO much Tina.

      Petra x

  2. I have no doubt that with your absolute awesomeness it will get done this year! Now that you have learnt πŸ™‚ hehe

  3. can’t wait to get my album and goodies next week to make a start. Yours is awesome Petra, can’t wait to see it completed.

    • Hi Sue,
Oh how exciting did you get the SC one? You will have so much fun. Something really ‘feel good’ about doing PL style but on a smaller, cuter scale.
      Petra x

      • I was a little late to decide I would do dd this year so I don’t have the SC one but a cute sn@p heritage album. I’m not a heritage girl but the album is gorgeous.

  4. Once again your work puts a big smile on my face! I so enjoy your blog Petra. Can’t wait to see your album finished. I made a start on PL (finally) and I watched your video tutorial on using the digital design journaling cards to line up on the cards when you print them out. So I bought the digital downloads and am practising printing them much to learn πŸ™‚

    • Thank you so very much Christine. I am humbled by comments like yours. Thank you so very much. x
Did you find the videos easier to find after I made the changes?

    • Thanks Sharon! But can’t thank you enough for those amazing Silhouette cuts! You are a shining star! Muwah!!

      Petra x

  5. Love how far along you’ve gotten. And now I need to try stamping on transparency sheets. And sewing sequin pockets. Fun! Can’t wait to see more.

    • Hi Melissa,
So just to be clear I did not make the sewn pocket cause sewing machines and I don’t play well πŸ˜› but thank you for your lovely comment. Stamping on transparencies is cool.

  6. I love that you are so organised Petra. I’ve always said I’d love to try December Daily (maybe NEXT year??). Instead my Project Life album will be inundated with all those extra photos & pages. Good luck with your album – I know it’ll be beautiful! And once again thanks for the inspiration.

    • Hi Leanne,
Well I tried DD last year and failed to deliver so hoping this is my year and organisation in advance is my key to success.
