Week 2

DSC_0213-2No need to be blue ’cause here is week two!

Ok I am posting this a little while after I have completed it but I’m sure you all know that sometimes life just needs to be lived.

Continuing with the Becky Higgins Seafoam kit I focussed more on the greys this week. I’m not sure if it’s obvious but each week I try to focus on one or two colours max and make sure they flow right throughout the 2 page layout. I just think this ‘binds’ it all together and make it more pleasing to the eye.

First up the left side of course. Lots of digital play on this side (aside form the week card).

I really enjoy finding opportunities to add journalling to a photo like I did with the bare Christmas tree here. I like it because in this instance it adds a little more interest to what would otherwise be a rather dull picture.

DSC_0214I also enjoyed using this Ali Edwards brush from her “Hello Life Boxes Vol 3” that I purchased from Designer Digitals. Placed some lovely grey seafoam paper in the background and hey presto. I really like how this insert turned out. D8E_0456Here is the right side. More of that grey. I included a recipe this week. Sometimes if I think it’s one I will easily forget and I really enjoyed it I like to add in and you know what? I have already gone back to these in my PL album cause I know exactly where they are in my album.

DSC_0216So the other thing I am enjoying at the moment is playing with “drop shadows” like the ones on the brackets around the “Clickety Clack”. Even tho it’s not physical they do add an extra dimension which is growing on me more and more.

Finally below is what it looks like altogether.WeeklayoutThanks For Dropping In

  1. Your pages are always amazing and inspiring Petra, I love your idea of only using two colours.
    Karen 🙂

    • Hi Karen,
Thank you so much. Yes I think it also makes it easier for your head space as you develop the page because you are always looking to incorporate only a couple of colours max.
Love your little avatar. So cute!

      Thanks For Dropping In

  2. What lovely layouts. I also love to keep my colors coordinated. The photos are displayed as the focus. Awesome!

  3. Beautiful as always Petra, all that white & grey is so calming and really pops your photos – just the right amount of blue & orange – perfect & clean <3

    • Hi Leanne,
And thank you. All the colour combos thanks to the awesome Seafoam. See what others I can add as time goes on.
      Thanks For Dropping In

  4. Amazing!! I was just looking at the brackets around the clickers clack thinking what a great idea digi typing then sticking chipboard brackets around then read your note about drop shadows. I know I say it every week but man you are clever.

    • Hi Michelle,
I tricked you! 🙂 Although I have done that before the digi & physical mix on a photo.
Loving those drop shadows. I really am.

      Thanks For Dropping In

  5. A gorgeous layout Petra. Love the recipe idea & the way you used the AE brush, plus that’s a great photo of your three kids together. Well done.
