Week 37

DSC_0087Hi and welcome to my week 37 Project Life layout. This is the tail end of our birthday month madness and so also includes an insert. In my album I always include an insert for birthdays. One of the many “unwritten” rules in my head that I just do as a matter of course plus, birthdays only come once a year and always have lots of pictures with them so I figure they’re worth making a little extra effort with. So on the left here is my week card. This is probably the simplest week card I have EVER made but, I love it’s simplicity and I just don’t think it needs anything else.

DSC_0061Here is the left hand side of my layout. The “details” stamp is from my fast becoming favourite Close To My Heart set called “All the Details” (funnily enough) as it has a lot of lovely sentiments perfect for project life.

DSC_0089This is a close up of one of the cards on the left side. I really wanted to include this shot of April opening her birthday present but, the photo was a bit blurry and it was portrait orientation off my iPhone. The thing is I really wanted to have it in this 6×4 orientation to get the maximum crop I could get  out of it. So I did it anyway. In Photoshop elements I stretched it as far as I could across a 6×4 canvas then, I filled the right side with a colour matching the Jade kit colour I was using this week. What I was left with was this harsh line across the picture. Maybe some would not mind but I felt it needed something that was not too distracting to kind of “break it up”. So I stitched this super cute little flower on using my favourite embroidery bits from the Amy Tangerine range. I still see the hards line but it is a little easier on the eyes without the flower taking over.

DSC_0063So, onto the insert. Using a Becky Higgins 8×10 page Protector and just did a quick digital layout using matching papers form the digital Becky Higgins Jade core kit. Nothing fancy right? In keeping with the stitching  feel I then went around the printed font for the word “nine” and then di a few co-ordinating cross stitches at the bottom.DSC_0092

Back of the  insert. I kind of struggled with this one and the reason I am not a good “traditional Scrapbooker” and why I just adore Project life, is because I always want to include too many photos in a spread. It’s always about the photos to  me. So meh … here t is. The main thing is the photos are there 🙂DSC_0064

Over to the right side. Again the “Love this” is from the same Close To My Heart stamp set. I included a few Ali Edwards Digital brushes on this page.DSC_0062

DSC_0093I also recently started using these Kelly Purkey alphas. Like here the words “Just For You”. I really like that they are so very clean and simple and of course the size is just perfect for project life.

When I lay my pages out to look at them I looked over at my recently acquired “Days of the week” tabs by Becky Higgins. They are so cute and really a perfect match for this layout so, you will see I have scattered them all over the layout to kind of  bring it all together. I also like that it shows which day of the week that photo is from.  A few close ups below.DSC_0095DSC_0096
