Week One

PROJECT LIFE

DSC_0206It’s time to have some fun and start with week one!

Ok so it’s time to get stuck into twenty thirteen and get some layouts out. Chronologically of course I’m starting with week one. I have mentioned before that I am using the Becky Higgins Seafoam core kit this year. I am quite certain that this will change as the year goes by. Why? Like last year when I started with the Cobolt kit I reached a point where I wanted to add a little, then some more and then went off on a different tangent. Yep it’s just the way I  do Project Life. Committed to the process not one set of colours….. ok I’m rambling and will stop riiiiight …. now…. maybe it’s because I’m a Gemini… ok really stopping now.

D8E_0413Left Hand side. This was the tail end of our big road trip so almost all the photos this week are taken as we head down the eastern coast of Queensland starting in Townsville. The view of Magnetic island while sitting at the Strand in Townsville was breathtaking and really deserved a double 6×4 spread. I almost considered making it a full 24×4 across the two pages but the format of the photo would mean too much detail was lost. I continue to print onto the core kit cards and am saving a lot of ink in the process so really happy with it. How cool are those  chevron Hamby screen prints? Some on the title card and a little more under “paradise”. Looks great with the Seafoam and adds an extra texture.

D8E_0414Now the Right hand side. Fairly straight forward. Can I just say the picture of Mackenzie holding a colander over her face is my favourite part of this page. I see that photo and think of our experience in Mackay  and this photo just sums it up perfectly but, that’s a story for another day.      lauout             Finally the full layout. A six day week (1st Jan was a Tuesday) but I still managed to fill the page easily. To be honest I always have way more photos than I need so it’s hardly surprising.

That’s it for now.

Thanks For Dropping In

Petra

  1. Petra, just lovely! Very effective spreading the photo across the top pockets. Can I ask how you did that to fit? Is that one photo cropped to 4×12? Or two photos?

    • Hi Kelly,
Yes Kelly is is one 4×12 crop cut in half. I do this with any large photos I insert like that. Print in the actual size and then cut up.
      Thanks For Dropping In

Yay… I always look forward to seeing your pages each week. Looks like you all had an awesome holiday 🙂 Love the borders around the photos 🙂

    • Hi Honey,
You are so sweet. Yes it was quite a trip. I am working on a mini album all about it too as I just can’t fit it all into a PL page without it taking over.
Yep I am also still a fan of the borders. We’ll see how the rest of the year pans out 🙂

      Thanks For Dropping In

    • Hey Petrice,

  5. Love how your photos can convey so much….and I absolutely “get” the colander……I think we all have those sorts of days.

    • Hey Amanda,
If only we could get away with plonking a colander on our head on those days hey?

      Thanks For Dropping In

    • Hi Rhonda,
Oh it’s so hard to keep up with it all isn’t it? I struggle sometimes too but I am gald you found it eventually and like it too.

      Thanks For Dropping In

  10. A beautiful spread! the colors – oh, Australia is really beautiful. I’m a kiwi, but we holidayed on Magnetic Island a couple of times when I was a kid. I’m amazed at how huge Australia is – you went so far and you didn’t even leave Queensland?! That blows my mind.
I also love your rounded corner bordered photos! Sorry if you’ve answered this question before, but how did you get them to come out so perfect and even? I have enough trouble getting my printer to give me even-width borders on each side of the photo, but to make them rounded as well?! it’s a miracle! I’d love to know your secret.
    Thanks!
    Joanna

    • Hi Joanna,
Yes Australia is very much like that. Something we really love about it. You can drive for days and still be in the same state.
As for the borders. I do it digitally in Photoshop Elements using round corner mask I created a while ago and then I print all my photos borderless (ie edge to edge)
      Hope that helps.

      Thanks For Dropping In
      Petra
